Hi Gretchen, I took mimio. I was very encouraged by its ease of use but discouraged by its lack of interactiveness such as with the activeslate or activotes. I really liked and saw many possibilities for the use of the "capture system". I am constantly having to pull out paper charts or make them both in paper and on Promethean which is twice the work. I could make and capture the chart simulaneously. Then I could refer to it the lesson if I wanted rather quickly. However when I asked if it was compatible with Promethean as I have devoted lots of time to making and downloading lots of promethean lessons, we were told that you could use promethean on mimeo but not mimeo on promethean. Which, if I understand correctly, would mean that all my activetools would not be accessed. Someone who has already started on promethean would have to have both technologies in place, unless the want to reinvent the wheel. I also really liked the portability and the potential to go totaly wireless. The promethean website is so much more extensive too. Do you think mimio will show up soon at the elementary level? Does it just depend on the principals?

Hello Carolinakatlady. Mimeo is already showing up in the elementary classrooms. My thought on Mimeo is that it is okay if you have nothing else...I prefer Promethean or SmartBoards, as they are have "more". Promethean and Smart have more interactive capabilities, better resources and are in general just better hardware/software...but that is JUST MY OPINION!!! I also think they (mimeos) are not as durable. Promethean software may not be used with Mimeo boards. That is a software license violation. Mimeo allows it's software to be used with other interactive whiteboards. Sorry to say that you cannot use your Activ Flipcharts with your Mimeo. Sorry. Gretchen
