Technology Buffet for the White Oak District

I want to hold a bi-weekly class just for the teachers and TAs in the White Oak District of Onslow County Schools. Each week the topic would be different areas of technology (ie. learning new technology tools, how to integrate technology into your curriculum, etc). Teachers and TAs will have the opportunity to get credit for these classes. They will have to take a minimum of 10 hours. Each class will be 1 hour in length.

In order for teachers and TAs to get credit, I will have to plan for these classes over the summer. I will need to turn my topics into CJ Koreneck before school starts. I would like to get feedback from administrators, teachers and TAs in the White Oak District to see what they are interested in learning.

Please add your comments to my blog. This blog is new and I will be updating it throughout the summer and this upcoming school year. My goal is to have an ongoing conversation about technology within the White Oak District.

Hope to hear your comments! Have a great summer!
Thanks, Gretchen

I know in 6th grade at HCMS we start off the year graphing, I would like to start off the year incorporating excel with all their data and let them see how easy it is to create a variety of graphs using the excel program. Any suggestions?

This is a "21st Century idea!" Way to think outside the box. Please find out a way to get this blog accessible on our server.

Our teachers will need ongoing refresher classes on Smart Boards, United Streaming and new training for our new staff. We recently received 1 Promethean board which the PE department will have to use. Please set up training for them.

Also, any training on program available for our Science and math teachers.

I think this would be especially great for t.a.'s such as myself that are going for their teaching cert.

Hey Gretchen! I'd like instruction on Geometer's Sketchpad and how to use it in math class. Also, can we get this program installed on the laptops so as to utilize the smartboard with it?
Thanks, J. Godfrey

I will be contacting you soon. I have lots of ideas but don't know how to make the technology "work". This blog is a great way for the WO schools to share ideas and get help. Thanks for doing it.

Oh...BTW...I agree with Ross.

I would like to have refreshers on the Smartboard and also exposure to any new tech programs. My classes already use Excel, Access, and Publisher.
